There has been said about the screen plays of Ingmar Bergman: "the masterpiece already has been completed when it is still on paper." These words are a big inspiration for me.
I just love a scenario with sparkling and powerful dialogues, where the descriptions are profound and expressive to feed the mind. I'm really fascinated universal and fascinating stories in a small scenery. I call them One-Room movies. This doesn't mean that it's situated in a single room, but it's more a certain philosophy of telling a story.
Films like Rope, Rear window, Husbands and Wives, Hell in the pacific to name a few have this quality. Ingrid Bergman said it like this: "I call Winter light and The Silence Chamber plays. It's like Chamber music. You divide several themes and subjects over a limited amount of characters." (August Strindberg 1849-1912 came up with the concept of Chamber plays.)
